Precision Lapping and Precision Polishing

Precision lapping, and diamond and chemical polishing of all materials, whether hard or soft, have been the specialties of Valley Design for over 30 years. Other services include diamond cutting and sawing, dicing and optical polishing.

Custom flat lapping and precision polishing of all types of materials from a single piece to millions of pieces and inventing special processes to solve your unique problems are typical of the extraordinary service that we provide our customers.

PRECISION LAPPING: Our single-sided lapping and double-sided lapping can meet your most demanding requirements for thickness and flatness. Thickness tolerances of ± .5um can be held. Flatnesses of 1/10 wave can be achieved depending on material type and size.

PRECISION POLISHING: Our single-sided polishing and double-sided polishing will give you the best surface finishes available. Valley has achieved 0/0 scratch dig < 4 Angstroms on Fused Silica, Fused Quartz and some glasses. We have also recently improved our polishing process to produce <20 Angstroms surface roughness on Aluminum and Stainless Steel.

Many of these materials are also available from stock.
