For more than 50 years, Valley Design has built a global reputation as a leader in advanced precision materials processing. From our 30,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Shirley, Massachusetts, we serve the world's most demanding high-tech companies as a true one-stop source for precision lapping, optical polishing, dicing, 3, 4 & 5-axis CNC machining (including true simultaneous 5-axis and 3+2 positional), backgrinding and precision drilling. We process both customer-supplied parts and materials from our own extensive in-stock inventory. Our standard and custom product lines include fused silica and glass wafers, aluminum nitride and alumina ceramic substrates, SEMI-standard wafers up to 450 mm diameter, optical windows, precision shims and spacers sized within microns, metal mirrors, color glass filters, and flat components for optics, microelectronics, photonics and semiconductor applications. We handle parts from 0.127 mm square to 48 inches in diameter.

SPECIAL CAPABILITIES

Our combined expertise in lapping, polishing, dicing and multi-axis CNC machining across a wide range of materials has enabled us to develop capabilities that few manufacturers can offer: ultra-thin processing to 10-15 µm, ultra-flat surfaces to 1/4 wave, optical-quality finishes below 5Å Ra (10/5 scratch/dig), and dimensional tolerances as tight as ±0.5 µm. We operate more than 100 single- and double-sided lapping, polishing, grinding and dicing machines, and maintain advanced metrology capabilities to verify every result.
